Neverim Press Editorial

Jesus, that was rough. So I've basically let the rest of the site get all weedy and overgrown and untended. This is because I've been pouring all of my energy into finishing of "The City", my 3rd novel. It's been a long time coming, but last night I typed up the final words and felt an amazing chemical rush of relief through the back of my brain. So there it is folks, the complete novel is posted, online and ready for your perusal.
I hope you enjoy it.

Well, not much happening except the constant swelling of my new novel "The City". Part six is on location, feel free to bask in its warmth.

Wow. It's been a long time between updates. So what the hell is my excuse ? Well, the short answer is that I changed countries, from Japan to Thailand, obviously changed jobs, etc etc etc. Business. That explains some of it. As for the rest, well, I haven't had enough access to the internet to really get my teeth back into the website.
But that was then, this is now.
Neverimpress is back in business, the doors are wide open and we are looking for readers and writers alike. There will be new content coming along pretty soon, from short stories to a brand new novel (by yours truly). So welcome back, enjoy the ride.

Whew. Sorry I've been away for so long. The site is getting a little overgrown and unruly in my absence. Needs a little TLC. However, I do have a good excuse for my lack of action on the site. My appendix swelled up like a balloon and had to be removed. Bah !
Now this fairly simple process was somewhat complicated by the fact thta I live in Japan, and don't speak any Japanese. Oh yes, it was a wacky comedy adventure of Marx Brothers proportions, that's for damn sure. Remind me to tell you about it some day. Well, to make up for it I have included two FULL NOVELS that should wet your whistle for the written word. And more short stories are on the way, I promise. Keep checking, and feel free to submit if you have anything new.

Oh ho ho ! Do you happen to like sci-fi ? Goodness gracious me but you're a lucky thing, you are. Check that section for a wealth of goodies. Lavaix back with more, as well as the welcome addition of Radigast. Also joining us is Vaughn Hardacker, who has given us both sci-fi and wartime treats. Check it out, it's all gravy.
And just to show I'm doing my bit, I have added a story of my own to the comedy section. Have a read, send us a comment (or a story ). Aye.

New stories, new stories. You want em ? We got 'em. I am extremely pleased to annonce that Paul Bellew has blasted onto our site in both the Romance and Crime/Mystery sections. Welcome aboard Paul. Also, Mr. Edward Myers gives us a little Romance and an excellent Western. An enigma by the name of Atticus has joined us.
And last, but certainly not least, I have posted some new stuff as well. Check the Drama section if you don't believe me. Lovely.

The Neverim Press would like to welcome Ben Hutchings, native of Canberra Australia and one of my all time favourite comic artists. He has kindly agreed to allow the Press to publish one of his comics in our ALL NEW COMIC SECTION (cheers!). Be sure to check it out, just below the short story listings.
Thanks to everyone who's offered support so far. But believe me, we're just getting started.

A few small changes here on the press. Most notably we have some background art up. This is a temporary measure though, just wait until we get some custom made art going. The orders are in, just witing for delivery ...
Also, we have some new stories. Check the Fantasy and Thriller sections for new atories by Boydegg and Lavaix respectively. And I myself have dropped a new nugget into the Comedy section. Comments as always are welcome ...

Welcome, welcome, welcome. Thanks for dropping in and checking out what is obviously destined to be the greatest of all known websites.
The first question that most people would ask is ; why ? And it's a pretty good question. Why bother making a website dedicated to bringing you the finest stories on the web ? Why go to all the effort ? I mean, surely in this day and age short stories are a little passe, right ? I mean, we have computer games and movies in abundance. We'll never have time to look at all the high-tech information we have at our disposal. Who still reads ?
Well I tell you. There's just something about the written word. It's not so much what it has, but what it doesn't have that makes it so great. There are no pictures. The story is not always given to you on a plate, injected directly into your memory. Nope, your brain has gotta do a little work first, and your imagination has to help out as well.
Games companies are always trying to impress us with the interactivity of their products. They feel that this is what separates their products from books. But on some levels, I would argue that books are at least as interactive as any game. Sure, we can't change the story per se. But it is the need to utilize our imagaination that makes the process of reading interactive. We have to paint the pictures in our heads all by ourselves. I guarantee that everyone has a slightly different picture of Sherlock Holmes, or of Robin Hood in their minds. Unless, of course, we all simply agree to the images given to us by Hollywood.
Apart from that, the written word supplies a cheap and simple voice to those who otherwise have no chance to be heard. Personally I would love to be able to make movies like "The Matrix", "Pulp Fiction" or "Citizen Kane", and have them seen by millions around the world. But unfortunately for me, no one is going to give me the money or opportunity to do so. And there are millions of people just like me, who have something to communicate that is worth listening to. So lets start listening to each other.
Last of all, but certainly not least, you may ask why anyone would bother making ANOTHER webpage for stories. I mean, no one is kidding themselves that this is the first. Indeed it is not, but in many ways it is the first of its kind. I decided to make up this website because I tried to find something on the 'net that just wasn't there. And that was a site that offered stories that I actually wanted to read.
Other story sites seemed to fall into one of two categories. On the one hand you have the self-abusers. This is the site that is designed to show you how smart the creators are. "Look at me ! Look how intelligent I am !". These are the literary journal crowd. People who can use the word 'postmodern' in a conversation without feeling like a tit. Please, keep the masturbation at home.
The other type of site is the 'We Publish Anything' site. Now these are potentially excellent. But unfortunately, you have to dig deep to draw the pearls from the swine. And honestly, who has the time to dig through fourteen crappy stories to find one good one? Hey there bub, let me save you some time.
The NeverimPress is bringing you something different. It is sitting between those two stools and hopefully not falling down the gap in between. We are not elitist, but neither are we interested in publishing garbage. No, our goal is a very simple one. We are just bringing you the very best stories being published on the internet today, distilled and collected in the one place for your convenience. No masturbation, no garbage. So sit back and enjoy.
